I really like the color combination in this one and have plans to do a larger studio piece in the future.  I love using these 8 x 10 inch panels for studies because they are a manageable size for finishing in one sitting yet they can also stand alone as a piece of art in a nice frame or part of a grouping of similar sizes.

Day 2 of work in progress 24 x 36 inch oil

Today I picked my color palette and got started on the upper half of the painting.  I am happy with the muted lavenders and for a punch of color I had to add some orange.  The trees are blocked in and will need a lot of work to make the texture of the birch work.  I will probably get started on the shadows tomorrow. Overall I am happy with the progress of this one.  This is done entirely with the palette knife and fingers - no brushes!

8 x 10 soft pastel "Narrows Inlet"

I did this painting today for a change from my animal paintings and to excite me about my vacation in a week. It is done from a photo I took while at Narrows Inlet, B.C. a couple of years ago. I love this place, and we are going back for some vacation time in another week. I can't wait!
